I can hardly call this a real review…not unless I decide to come back and fill this here page in with a LOT more detail, but can you blame me for wanting this cover to be the first thing you see when you upload my blog’s home page? No? Okay. Cool. Now onto my quick thoughts….
First things first…here’s the BLURB:
Single Dad. Second Chances. Meet Mack in the newest STANDALONE novel from New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward.
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot, single father of the sweet little boy.
I became a woman I didn’t recognize, someone riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend, Lorelai, so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with someone else just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
This is what, my 6 or 7th book by Penelope Ward? Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are pretty much auto-buy list
and 80% of that can be blamed on all my future baby’s daddies on the covers because these ladies sure know how to deliver an entertaining story. Still….I don’t know…this one seemed more on the sappier side…whenever I read the male lead (Mack Daddy’s) passionate professions of love it felt like I was reading one of the thousands of shondalogues from one of Shonda Rhime’s TV dramas. You know the grand speeches McDreamy, President Fitz & even McSteamy make that all the normal females swoon over instead of rolling their eyes (like I do)?
Awesome story as always, but I’d just be kissing the ass of a favorite author if I gave this 4 stars because if this were any other author I’d be making jokes about needing a trip to the dentist to check for cavities.
Seriously….if you’ve ever enjoyed Ward’s previous books (co-written or otherwise) you’ll likely LOVE this. I’m just a f*cking weirdo, so don’t mind me.
Also if you love McDreamy type leads, read this. Get right on it.
Also, also….that COVER…..My ass would be the first one dropping my rugrat off to school, holding up the carpool lane and everythang. And I’d co-host the bake sale with him, too.
? ? You know these cookies for the bakin’….
3 Ramble-Worthy Stars
** I tacked on an extra half because it’s not Ward’s fault I’m in a “mood” **
